Ghanaian international Abdul-Aziz Yakubu delivered a crucial assist to help Qingdao West Coast secure a narrow victory over Shenzhen Peng City in the Chinese Super League.
The 27-year-old forward started and played for 90 minutes as his outfit cruised to a 1-0 win over Shenzhen Peng City in the Round 3 clash, held at the Qingdao West Coast University City Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The former Rio Ave star, who joined Qingdao West Coast in February 2026 played a vital role in the sides’ crucial home victory. Yakubu’s influence proved decisive in the tightly contested clash.
Both sides struggled to break the deadlock in the first half. The game remained goalless at the break, reflecting the intensity and balance between the two teams.
However, the hosts eventually found their breakthrough late in the second half. In the 82nd minute, Yakubu showcased his vision and composure by setting up Davidson, who calmly slotted home the winner to seal all three points for Qingdao West Coast.
The former Rio Ave striker, who joined the club in February 2026, played a pivotal role throughout the match, combining strength and intelligent movement to trouble the opposition backline.
Yakubu has now made three appearances in the Chinese Super League this season, registering one assist as he continues to settle into life with his new club.
