Andre Ayew has again been left out of the Ghana squad, raising fresh questions about his future with the national team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Head coach Otto Addo omitted the experienced forward from the squad announced for the upcoming international friendlies against Austria and Germany later this month.
Ayew, who currently plays for NAC Breda, had hoped to return to the national team after recently scoring his first goal in the Eredivisie for the Dutch club with a trademark header.
The 36-year-old has not featured for Ghana since the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, where his last appearance came against Mozambique.
Ayew was included in the squad for friendlies against Nigeria and Uganda in March 2024 but did not play in either match.
Although Addo previously maintained that the door remained open for the veteran forward, his continued absence from recent squads suggests the coach may now be looking toward other attacking options as Ghana prepare for future competitions.
Ghana will play Austria in Vienna on March 27 before traveling to Stuttgart to face Germany on March 30, 2026.
