David Abagna has submitted a transfer request to APOEL FC after asking the club for permission to negotiate with a foreign team.
The 27-year-old Ghanaian midfielder reportedly approached the club’s management to request approval to open talks with an unnamed club abroad as he seeks a new challenge outside Cyprus.
According to APOEL, discussions between the Cypriot side and the interested club progressed quickly. After three days of negotiations, both parties reached an agreement on a transfer fee, clearing a major step toward completing the move.
The deal is now expected to proceed, subject to the agreement of personal terms and the completion of other formalities between the player and the buying club.
Abagna has been an important figure in APOEL’s midfield since joining the Nicosia-based club. He has built a reputation as a midfielder capable of controlling the tempo of matches and creating chances for teammates.
His performances have drawn interest from clubs outside Cyprus, prompting the player to explore the opportunity for a new stage in his career.
