Former Black Stars midfielder Hamza Mohammed has identified Fatawu Issahaku and his contemporaries as the foundation upon which Ghana's national team future must be built.
Speaking to 3Sports, Hamza made clear that the torch is passing to a new generationâone led by the dynamic Leicester City winger.
"Fatawu and the likes are the future of the Black Stars," he stated.
The former midfielder's words carry the weight of someone who understands the cycles of international football. Generations come and go, and Ghana is now looking toward its next wave of talent to carry the nation forward.
Hamza's endorsement of Fatawu was unequivocal, describing him as a "great talent" and expressing gratitude that such a player belongs to Ghana. But he also stressed the fragility of potential, repeatedly returning to one crucial theme.
"We just pray for injury-free for him."
"I believe he should be the one that we should look for in the World Cup that we are going."
The comparison that followed was strikingâa suggestion that Fatawu could ascend to the heights of Ghana's football royalty.
"And who knows? Maybe he will be one of the Abedi Peles that we've never seen since the legend left the game."
Fatawu has registered eight goals and seven assists for Leicester this season, tormenting Championship defenders with his pace and direct running. But for Hamza, the statistics matter less than what lies ahead. The future of the Black Stars is taking shape, and Fatawu stands at its centre.
