Spanish club RC Celta de Vigo have secured the permanent signing of Ghanaian forward Bernard Somuah Sarpong from Asante Kotoko SC, committing the young talent to a long-term contract that runs until June 2030.
The 19-year-old winger, who originally moved to Spain on a loan-to-buy basis in August 2024, has seen his buyout clause triggered following a string of decisive performances that have made him a cornerstone of the club’s sporting project.
Somuah’s ascent within the "Canteira Celeste" has been remarkably swift. After an initial adaptation period with the Juvenil A squad, he was promoted to Celta Fortuna, the club’s reserve team, where he made his Primera Federación debut on the opening day against Zamora CF.
Since then, he has become a regular fixture in Fredi Ãlvarez’s tactical setup, logging over 800 minutes in the third tier. His impact has been immediate, tallying five goals and proving to be a nightmare for defenders with his explosive pace and technical proficiency in one-on-one duels.
The Ghanaian’s contributions have been instrumental in Celta Fortuna’s promotion charge. His most iconic moment came during a dramatic comeback against Talavera at Barreiro, where he netted a stoppage-time winner to secure three points.
His individual brilliance has helped propel the reserve side to second place in the league standings with 48 points, keeping them firmly in the hunt for a historic promotion.
