âVfB Stuttgart have welcomed Nikolas Nartey back into the matchday squad ahead of their Europa League play-off first leg against Celtic in Glasgow on Thursday night.
As expected, the Danish midfielder has been included after recovering from a minor injury and will start the game on the bench.
Nartey had been sidelined for just over two weeks with a knock, missing Stuttgart’s last three competitive fixtures while he completed his recovery program and regained match fitness. His return comes at a good moment for the German side, who are looking to balance their resources across domestic and European commitments.
The 24-year-old’s availability adds valuable depth and flexibility in central midfield, an area where Stuttgart have recently been a little light and have had to lean heavily on a core group of players.
Whether he features against Celtic or is eased back gradually over the coming games, Nartey’s presence in the squad again gives head coach Sebastian Hoeneà more options in terms of tactics, rotation and in-game adjustments as Stuttgart look to push for progression in Europe and maintain their strong form in the Bundesliga.
