The Upper West Regional Football Association has officially launched the U-15 Girls Regional Colts League in a ceremony attended by school representatives, club officials and coaches.
The initiative is aimed at strengthening girls’ football in the region and creating structured opportunities for young players to develop through regular competition.
RFA Chairman Sadugu Yahaya said the programme is funded by FIFA through the Ghana Football Association and implemented by the Regional FAs. He urged participating schools and clubs to show commitment to ensure the region fully benefits.
He noted that the success of the league will depend on the collective effort of all stakeholders.
Chairperson of the Women’s Football Desk, Madam Saweiba Mohammed, encouraged schools to treat the project as a platform to identify and nurture young talents, adding that many girls have the potential but lack opportunities to grow.
She said the league is expected to help groom disciplined, skilful and confident players.
The competition will provide a consistent match experience while promoting teamwork and technical development. Matches are scheduled to begin this weekend across the region.
