Asante Kotoko has paid GH¢60,000 of the GH¢120,000 compensation owed to former head coach Abdul Karim Zito following his resignation earlier this month, club officials have confirmed.
The total amount represents four months' salary for the veteran coach, who stepped down on February 9 after a poor run of results that saw Kotoko eliminated from both the CAF Confederation Cup and MTN FA Cup, while trailing league leaders Medeama by eight points.
According to club sources, Coach Zito has requested clarification on the remaining balance.
Kotoko has indicated that the outstanding amount will be paid in tranches due to bookkeeping and financial management constraints.
The situation comes in the aftermath of Zito's exit, with both parties seeking to resolve the matter amicably as the club continues its preparations for the remainder of the season under interim head coach Prince Yaw Owusu.
Zito's tenure, though brief, included a historic domestic cup sweep in 2025 before results deteriorated in the current campaign.
