Winfred Schafer has sent a clear message to Ghanaian footballers: only dedication and consistency will open the door to the Black Stars.

He praised the quality within the domestic league and highlighted one standout performer in particular, Accra Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare, who currently holds the number one spot for the national team.
During his visits to various league centres, Schäfer said he has spent time observing matches and interacting with players and coaches. He believes this close monitoring helps him understand the true state of football in the country.
"The heart of football in Ghana is in the local league, not only with players in Europe. Over the past two months, I have been visiting league venues, speaking with coaches and players," he told Medeamaa FM
"The best player I have seen is Benjamin Asare, and he is the Black Stars’ first-choice goalkeeper. I urge all players to work hard if they want to earn a call-up into the Black Stars,”
