Abdul Karim Zito has revealed that Asante Kotoko tried to keep to continue his role as the head coach of the club but decided to quit his role.
The former Black Satellites coach resigned from his role on Monday after Kotoko suffered a 4-2 penalty shootout loss against Aduana FC on Sunday at the Baba Yara Stadium in the Round of 16 games in the FA Cup.
"It became a family issue, and we had to talk it out and find an amicable solution. In the end, we all agreed that I should leave," he said on Asempa FM.
"They did their best to change my mind, but my mind was already made up. I am a legend of the club, and if an issue arises, you need to remain calm and talk things out. I have resigned.
"I have been on the job for barely a year, and I won four trophies. I am very happy about it," Zito added.
Zito took charge of the Porcupine Warriors in April last year and guided them to FA Cup glory at the end of the season.
Kotoko has already announced the club will be under the guidance of assistant coaches Prince Osei Yaw and Hamza Obeng for their upcoming Super Clash against Hearts of Oak on Sunday.
