Manchester City winger Jeremy Doku has issued a clear directive to his teammates ahead of the Premier League title run-in, emphasising that the squad must concentrate on their own performances rather than the struggles of their rivals.
Doku's comments came after Arsenal, who lead the table, suffered a 3-2 defeat to Manchester United, extending their winless run and reducing their lead over City to just four points. Despite acknowledging the favourable result, Doku stressed an inward-focused mentality.
"I know there's a lot of games in this competition," Doku told journalists. "We just need to focus on ourselves; we need to do our job. We still play them (Arsenal) as well. So a lot of things will happen."
The Belgian international revealed a disciplined approach, stating he did not watch Arsenal's latest defeat. "I wasn't really focused on that, but if they lose, it's better for us, for sure," he added, framing the rival's setback as a secondary concern.
With the title race entering a critical phase, Doku's message underscores a professional mindset within the Manchester City camp.
His insistence on controlling their own destiny reflects the team's confidence that maintaining their high standards, rather than fixating on Arsenal's form, will be the key to successfully defending their championship.
