President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, has expressed deep satisfaction with the Black Stars’ performances in 2025, describing the team’s unbeaten run in competitive matches as a powerful statement of growth, unity and belief.
Speaking in an interview with Metro TV, Okraku reflected on the contrasting fortunes of the senior national team over the last two years, admitting that 2024 was a difficult period for the Black Stars.
However, he noted that the team’s response in 2025 was encouraging and worthy of praise.
“The excitement in my heart is that in 2024 the Black Stars struggled, but in 2025 the Black Stars did not lose one competitive game, one official game. That is a big statement. It is a statement that gladdens my heart, that tells me when we stay together, when we work together, when we believe we can always reach our target,” he said.
In 2025, the Black Stars played six competitive matches, winning five and drawing one. The impressive run ensured that Ghana booked her place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Meanwhile, Ghana lost three of the four international friendly matches played in 2025, winning only against Trinidad and Tobago.
Coach Otto Addo and his players will be keen on a strong start to 2026 later in March when Ghana takes on Austria and Germany in friendly matches as part of preparations for the World Cup.
