Middlesbrough are closing in on the signing of highly rated Ghanaian forward Hinneh Lord Listowell, with only final visa formalities remaining before his expected unveiling, according to Footy-Africa sources.
The 18-year-old has already agreed terms with the Championship side and is set to begin his career in England with Boro’s Under-21 squad under academy manager Mark Tinkler. Club scouts have monitored Listowell over an extended period and were impressed by his development and attitude during earlier trial spells.
Listowell is set to join from Asante Kotoko, whom he joined last summer. Despite his age, he gained valuable senior experience in domestic competition and featured in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Before his move to Kotoko, the attacker was developed at Samba Stars Academy, a Ghana-based setup part-owned by former West Ham United striker Michail Antonio. Middlesbrough’s interest intensified during that period, with two trial spells at Rockliffe allowing the club to assess his potential closely.
Head of recruitment Chris Jones and academy recruitment lead Martin Carter are understood to have watched him in person before approving the move. Listowell has also previously trialled with Wolverhampton Wanderers, highlighting growing interest in his profile.
Once paperwork is completed, Middlesbrough believe his pace, aggression, and technical ability can be developed into a future first-team option.
