Evelyn Nsiah-Asare, CEO of Hasaacas Ladies, has urged the Black Queens to remain focused and avoid complacency as they prepare for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
The tournament, running from March 17 to April 3, will feature 16 teams for the first time.
Ghana, drawn in Group D alongside Cameroon, Mali, and Cape Verde, enters the competition with confidence after securing bronze at the 2024 Women’s AFCON.
Nsiah-Asare believes head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren has the squad well-prepared but stressed that overconfidence could be costly.
“It’s an exciting draw, but if you don’t take care, when you are playing a team who doesn’t know how to play, that is when, you will suffer. They will not allow you to also play your plan,” she told Citi Sports.
“I believe that the formation that this coach has been playing is good. I know they will, they will go far. I know so many people do not know the history behind Ghana Black Queens. They have been to the World Cup, I think, third or four times. So this year, we have to go for the trophy for the first time.”
After finishing third in the 2024 WAFCON, Ghana will be aiming to surpass that achievement. Despite three runner-up finishes in 1998, 2002, and 2006, the Black Queens are still in search of their first continental title.
