West Ham opened the floodgate in the 14th-minute mark through Crysencio Summerville before England international Jarrod Bowen converted from the spot to double the advantage for the home team in the high-stake clash.
In the 43rd-minute, Portugal international Mateus Fernandes found the back of the net ensuring West Ham cement the win before the half hour mark.
After recess, the former Ajax attacker pulled one back for Sunderland after being set up by former Chelsea right-back Nordi Mukiele.
Despite the loss, the Dutch-Ghanaian attacker was one of the standout performers for Sunderland in the round 23 fixture of the Premier League.
The 23-year-old forward joined the Black Cats in September 2025 and has since been outstanding for the Premier League outfit. Out of 17 games in the English top-flight, the talented Dutch-Ghanaian attacker has racked up five goals and 1 assist across the period.
