Birmingham City manager Chris Davies has explained that the club signed Ghanaian winger Ibrahim Osman on loan because of his exceptional pace and one-on-one ability, qualities he believes are vital for the team's promotion push.
Davies highlighted that Osman's speed is seen as a crucial strategic asset for the club. "It was his pace and his ability to go one v one and be an outlet for the team," Davies said, describing the winger's key attribute.
He emphasised that in Birmingham's system, wingers are fundamental: "We've played with two wingers, and they are an important outlet for us, and creativity-wise, we need them to go past people, get crosses in and then get in the back post to score. "Hopefully, he can do all that."
The 21-year-old Black Stars player joins from Brighton and Hove Albion for the remainder of the season, having spent the first half of the campaign on loan at French side AJ Auxerre.
Davies is counting on Osman to provide the direct, attacking width needed as Birmingham City, currently 13th in the EFL Championship, aims to climb the table and challenge for promotion to the Premier League.
Osman is expected to compete for a starting role immediately, with his integration into the squad set to begin as the team prepares for their upcoming match against Stoke City.
