âVfB Stuttgart is preparing to extend the contract of Danish-Ghanaian midfielder Nikolas Nartey beyond the coming summer, according to German outlet Bild.
Club officials are reportedly convinced by his recent performances and want to secure his future at the club.
Despite these plans, Nartey could still be omitted from Stuttgart’s Europa League squad.
The 25-year-old started two of the team’s first three matches of the new year, but a new squad registration for European competition would likely require a swap with Ermedin DemiroviÄ, the player Nartey initially replaced in the list. This creates a delicate balance between his growing importance in the league and the tactical needs in Europe.
Details about the length of the new contract have not yet been revealed, as talks are said to be at an early stage. The situation underlines how highly Nartey is valued in Stuttgart’s long-term planning, even if his exact role in European competition remains uncertain.
In August 2019, Nikolas Nartey transferred from FC Koln to VfB Stuttgart for a fee of â¬300,000, and in the 2024â25 season he made one appearance in the DFB-Pokal as part of the Stuttgart side that went on to win the competition.
