Valencia are reportedly pushing to secure the services of Ghana defender Joseph Aidoo on loan as head coach Carlos Corberán looks to bolster his defensive options for the remainder of the season.
The 30-year-old Celta Vigo centre-back has recently returned to full fitness after a long and challenging recovery from a cruciate ligament injury that sidelined him for close to a year. His comeback has not gone unnoticed, with the struggling La Liga outfit identifying Aidoo as a viable option to strengthen their back line.
According to reports from Deportes COPE, Aidoo could come into serious contention should he terminate his contract with Celta Vigo, which runs until June 30, 2026.
Valencia are said to be exploring solutions to cover the absence of Mouctar Diakhaby, while the report also notes that Eray Cömert is not expected to be forced out of the club.
Despite his lengthy injury layoff, Aidoo has featured in five competitive matches this season—three in La Liga and two in the Copa del Rey—all of which ended in victories for Celta Vigo. His only league starts came away to Osasuna and in a dominant 4-1 home win over Valencia at Balaídos, underlining his impact when called upon.
A seasoned and composed defender, Aidoo brings valuable La Liga experience and leadership at the back, qualities Valencia are keen to inject into their squad as they battle to stabilise their season.
