Finance Manager at the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Emmanuel Lawson, has made history as the first Ghanaian to be awarded a FIFAe Referee Coaching Certificate.
The milestone, according to the Ghana FA, was achieved during the FIFAe Summit held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in December 2025.
“The Football Association is pleased to announce that Emmanuel Lawson, eFootball Manager of the Ghana National Team, the Black Asteroids, has earned a FIFAe Referee Certificate following his participation in the FIFAe Summit held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from December 17 to 19,” the GFA said in an official statement on Monday.
The certificate was officially presented at the summit after Lawson completed the FIFAe Referee course through an extensive online programme undertaken over a sustained period.
The achievement marks a significant milestone for the country’s growing presence in competitive eFootball.
The FIFAe Referee course is designed to equip esports officials and administrators with comprehensive knowledge of FIFAe match regulations, officiating standards, fair play principles and the application of the laws of the game in high-level eFootball competitions.
Sharing his thoughts on the certification, Lawson noted that it would play a key role in improving professionalism, consistency and competitive integrity within Ghana’s eFootball ecosystem.
Meanwhile, the Ghana FA has congratulated Emmanuel Lawson on this achievement and commended his dedication to advancing the development and credibility of eFootball in Ghana.
