Los Angeles Galaxy forward Joseph Paintsil has disclosed the reason for owning a football club in Ghana despite still playing the sport.
The club, JP FC, currently competing in the Division Two league is solely financed by the Black Stars forward.
According to Paintsil, the struggle of making it as a footballer inspired his decision to own a club and help the upcoming generation.
"It's something I wanted to do, it is something I have always wanted to do. Whenever I get to play that I can also get a bit stable so I can also do something for the young ones that never had the opportunity. When I was growing up, there was a lot of ups and downs and disappointments and those kind of things so me having this kind of breakthrough for now in my football, I just need to also open the windows for them," he told 3 Sports.
"Even when they are playing in my team, they feel comfortable and happy at least they are playing in my team. It's something I have always dreamt of and to help those who wants to be pro," he added.
Painstil started his career in Tema with Tema Youth before moving to Europe, where he featured for Ferencvaros and KRC Genk.
These days he plies his trade in America with giants LA Galaxy.
