Union Berlin defender Derrick Arthur Kohn has expressed his readiness to fiercely compete for the left-back position in the Black Stars.
In an interview with Sporty FM, Kohn conveyed his strong desire to secure the number one spot, highlighting his competitive nature and love for duels on the field.
His comments are significant as he directly enters a competitive environment with established national team left-backs like Gideon Mensah and Ebenezer Annan, all vying for a starting spot ahead of key fixtures and the 2026 World Cup campaign.
"Of course [I'm ready to fight for Black Stars left-back position]. I love the duels. It helps every player to get better," Kohn stated. "I'm ready if the coach says I'm number one."
Kohn officially made his long-awaited Black Stars debut in a friendly match against Japan on November 14, 2025, where he started at left-back.
This appearance came after prolonged documentation delays that prevented him from playing in earlier 2026 World Cup qualifiers for which he had been called up.
