Ghana coach Kassim Mingle has expressed satisfaction with his Black Galaxies squad following their 'very good' performance despite a narrow 1-0 defeat to South Africa.
Bafana Bafana secured the win in a tightly contested friendly at Dobsonville Stadium on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, in preparation for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The only goal came in the second half from South Africa midfielder Sipho Mbule. Bafana Bafana dominated possession with 66% of the ball but struggled to convert their control into clear chances in the first half.
"It's a very good performance from our boys. We have only three weeks to prepare them. They put up a very good performance. I'm happy about how they played. I'm happy for them," Mingle said after the game.
South Africa repeatedly tested Ghana’s defence, creating several goal-scoring opportunities under the guidance of coach Hugo Broos. The win offers the hosts a crucial boost as they finalise preparations for AFCON in Morocco.
Ghana’s team, composed of home-based players because the friendly fell outside the FIFA international window, used the match to prepare for upcoming CHAN qualifiers.
Mingle highlighted the value of the performance, noting the short preparation period and praising the young squad’s resilience against a strong South African side.
The friendly provided the Black Galaxies an opportunity to gain experience, assess tactics, and build cohesion ahead of competitive international fixtures.
