Ebenezer Kwaku Addo
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Asutifi North Constituency, Ebenezer Kwaku Addo, in partnership with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), is set to assist commercial drivers and riders in the district to obtain their driver’s licence and vehicle registration at a subsidised price.
The MP disclosed that he would personally cover the subsidy to reduce the cost for beneficiaries.
According to the MP, the exercise forms part of efforts to promote road safety and ensure compliance with traffic regulations in the constituency.
The outreach will be held in two major centres in the district: Ntotroso –Wednesday, August 26, 2026 and Kenyasi – Thursday, August 27, 2026.
Speaking on the initiative, Mr. Addo noted that the move is timely given the rising cases of reckless driving that continue to claim lives on the country’s roads.
“There have been persistent calls on me to intervene on behalf of road offenders who are arrested because of issues with licences and registration. I think it is good to solve this by giving them the opportunity to have the licence to equally take away the pressure on me,” he said.
The MP indicated that supporting them halfway is to lessen the financial burden, which might be the cause of the drivers not being able to renew their licence.
He also assured that the activity will provide education for the riders on the new Road Traffic Act and also help participants to observe safety rules.
He added that the subsidy will cover 1/3 of the renewal and licence cost, targeting between 100-150 drivers and riders within the constituency.
Mr. Addo encouraged all commercial drivers, motor riders, and vehicle owners in Ntotroso, Kenyasi and surrounding areas to take advantage of the registration exercise.
“Those who refuse to turn up would have themselves to blame when caught up with the law,” he said.
