Parliament has been recalled from recess to consider urgent parliamentary business, with the House scheduled to sit from Monday, August 24 to Friday, August 28, 2026.
The recall was directed by the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, in exercise of powers conferred on him under Order 58(4) of the Standing Orders of Parliament.
According to a notice signed by the Speaker, Parliament will reconvene at 12 noon on Monday, August 24, at Parliament House in Accra.
The House will sit through Friday, August 28, to transact what the notice describes as “urgent parliamentary business.”
The Speaker’s directive states that the recall shall take effect “notwithstanding anything to the contrary,” indicating that the House will resume sitting despite being on recess.
The notice was dated August 12, 2026, at the Office of the Speaker of Parliament, Accra.
However, the notice did not specify the nature of the urgent parliamentary business to be considered during the five-day sitting.
