Napo and his boss, Dr. Bawumia, during ongoing campaign tour in the Ashanti Region
NEW PATRIOTIC Party (NPP) delegates have been urged to vote massively for former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the party’s flagbearer, to ensure electoral victory in the 2028 general election.
Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh aka ‘Napo’, the NPP running mate for the 2024 presidential election, who made the call, stated categorically that his boss, Dr. Bawumia, has a national appeal so he can easily lead the party to victory in 2028.
According to Napo, the former Vice President also boasts of leadership temperament, which is significantly required in the party’s leader to unite the NPP as one family with a common destiny after the Saturday, January 31, 2026 flagbearer election.
In this regard, Napo, who is a former Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South Constituency in Kumasi, appealed to the entire NPP delegates, to cast their ballots for Dr. Bawumia.
He also said Dr. Bawumia, after serving as vice president for eight years and also being the NPP presidential candidate for the 2024 elections, has been well marketed so his face and good works are known to Ghanaians, hence he should be retained.
“It’s important to note that Dr. Bawumia possesses the clarity, national appeal, and leadership temperament required to unite the party, guide it through renewal, and position us strongly for victory in the 2028 presidential and parliamentary elections.
“For continuity, stability, and success, the call remains unchanged. Let’s retain Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia as our presidential candidate for the next presidential elections,” he humbly admonished the NPP delegates.
Napo made the above statement when Dr. Bawumia’s campaign team made stops at Odotobri, Bekwai, Bosomtwe, Asokwa, Nyinahin, Suame, Subin, Old Tafo, Atwima Kwanwoma, and Atwima Nwabiagya constituencies, all in the Ashanti Region.
Throwing more light on his claim that Dr. Bawumia has national appeal, Napo said the former Vice President possesses a widespread, cross-regional, and mass-market attractiveness that resonates with people across the country.
“Dr. Bawumia can easily attract votes from the urban and rural communities, and he can also amass votes from all other segments of society. In fact, he is our surest bet to wrest political power from the ruling NDC in 2028,” Napo stated.
