Consumer inflation eased further to 3.8 percent in January 2026, extending a 13-month disinflation streak and marking the lowest rate since the consumer price index was rebased in 2021, data from the Ghana Statistical Service showed.
Prices rose just 0.2 percent month on month, reflecting broad-based easing across food and non-food items. Food inflation slowed to 3.9 percent year on year, while non-food prices fell 0.4percent on a monthly basis.
The softer inflation backdrop supported a policy shift, with the Bank of Ghana cutting its benchmark rate by 250 basis points to 15.50 percent to support growth.
