The member of parliament for the Ellembelle constituency, Emmanuel Armah Kofi-Buah clashed with the District Chief Executive of the area, Kwesi Bonzoh clash over road construction.
According to the lawmaker who doubles as deputy minority leader, the road in in question within the constituency is unmotorable and the DCE who lives in the area has failed to get it fixed.
In a video report by UTV, Kwesi Bonzoh was full of fury and was seen arguing with Kofi-Buah, saying the road was under construction and he did not see why the MP should make a big deal out of its current state.
The two politicians are seen yelling in anger at each other in a confrontational manner while some members of their various entourage restrain them to avoid a probable exchange of fisticuffs.
It got to a point when things almost got out of hand as they both came face to face against each other throwing accusations angrily in the presence of their followers who stood by to watch them as they faced off.
This is the second time in weeks that an MP and a DCE have clashed over development in their areas. Last month, it took the swift intervention by the police in Tuobodom to prevent what would have been a bloody clash between supporters of the MP for the area and those of the DCE over who has the right to replace a dysfunctional traffic light.
Lawyer Elizabeth Ofosu Adjare, the Member of Parliament for Techiman North was in the district capital where contractors had brought their machinery to replace the faulty traffic lights at her instance. According to the residents of the area, it was her 2020 campaign promise to fix it to reduce road accidents at the intersection in question.
However, the Chief Executive of the Techiman North District in the Bono region, Everson Addo-Donkor ordered the police commander to stop the legislator from replacing the traffic light because it is not her government that is in power.
This resulted in a clash between the supporters of the two politicians, with those of the MP insisting that the contractor should go ahead with the work, while those of the DECE were against it.
Eventually, the police commander asked the contractor to leave the site and keep his tools at the police station for the disagreement to be resolved before he proceeded.
The development angered many residents of Tuobodom who vowed to ensure the MP was allowed to fulfil her campaign promise to them, which would also bring an end to the incessant loss of lives at the said section of the busy road due to the absence of a traffic light.
Some of the residents were heard heard in a video that captured the incident wondering whether the DCE had the interest of the people at heart or he was just pursuing parochial partisan interests.
