A mentally-challenged woman has given birth to a set of twins.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the woman identified popularly as `Iya Kamo gave birth to a boy and a girl on Saturday, October 3, 2022, at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti, in the Ido/Osi Local Government Area of the state.
The spokesman of the hospital, Bank Akinnuoye, is reported to have said that the woman and her babies are doing very well.
Before she gave birth, 'Iya Kamo’ was reportedly seen loitering in the streets of Ido-Ekiti together with another child.
She was taken to the hospital where she was receiving antenatal care before she eventually gave birth to the twins.
The Chairman of the Ido-Osi Local Government Council, Dr Sola Ogunsina, applauded the management and staff of the hospital for taking care of `Iya Kamo’ and her newborn twins.

NAN reports that he donated money to support the needs of mothers and babies. He also urged fellow Nigerians to extend a hand of help to `Iya Kamo’ and her twins.
In an earlier report, a woman believed to be mentally challenged killed a young man in his 20s on the second tier of the Kwame Nkrumah interchange in Accra.
The incident happened Tuesday, August 2, 2022, sparking angry reactions, with some people attempting to lynch her before the personnel from the Nima District Police Headquarters arrived to save her and carry her to the station for investigation.
According to eyewitnesses, the woman was throwing stones sporadically, and when they saw the deceased walking after her, they thought he was going to restrain the uncontrollable woman, only to realize that she had overpowered him.
The woman reportedly hit the deceased’s head with a cement block, causing his death on the spot.
The police officers deployed to the scene managed to handcuff the woman and send her to the psychiatric hospital for examination.
