The running mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the December 7 Presidential contest, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has ended her 3-day campaign tour of the Volta Region during which she was enstooled as a queen mother of Ave Dakpa in the Akatsi North Constituency under the stool name Mama Ngorgbe II.
The chiefs and people of the community explained that their decision to honour Prof. Naana Opoku-Agyemang stemmed from the fact that she has been a trailblazer in various fields of endeavour in the country and beyond.
Among them are being the first female Vice Chancellor of a public university, the University of Cape Coast and President of the Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) as well as her untiring efforts at enhancing education in Ghana as an Education Minister.
Throughout her rounds, the NDC running mate reminded the enthusiastic crowds of the good deeds of the previous NDC administration under former President John Mahama in the field of infrastructural development throughout the country and the resolve of the party to reset the country after eight years of misrule and economic decadence under the current NPP regime.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang extolled the virtues of the NDC, and in particular, former President John Mahama for his respect and value for women in the scheme of national development.
That is why she had been chosen as running mate in the up-coming elections, an act which she maintained remains unprecedented in the country’s political history.
She appealed to the electorate, especially women to vote massively for former President Mahama and NDC Parliamentary candidates for the economic, educational, industrial and social transformation of Ghana which had suffered tremendously under the current administration.
She expressed her profound appreciation to the chiefs and people of Ave Dakpa for the royal honour bestowed on her.
The 3-day tour took Prof. Jane Opoku-Agyemang to the North Tongu, South Tongu, Keta, Keta South, Akatsi North, Adaklu, Ho Central, Ho West, South Dayi, North Dayi, Kpando and Hohoe constituencies.
