Three Chinese and a Ghanaian have been granted bail for allegedly assaulting two Chinese in Bolgatanga, in the Upper East Region.
Pan Young, Li Sonfeng and Ran Xiaojun, the Chinese, and the Ghanaian (name unavailable) have been granted a total of GH¢160,000 when they appeared before the Circuit Court in Bolgatanga.
They all pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to commit crime and assault.
As part of the bail condition the court presided over by Mr Sumaila Mbache Ahmad ordered that the sureties must own landed property.
Chief Inspector Francis Tamanja told the court that the complainants are suppliers of agriculture products to the company of the victims in Bolgatanga.
Chief InspTamanja said that at about 7pm, on March 4, the victims on board a Toyota pick-up stopped at the entrance of their residence at Tindonsobligo, a suburb of Bolgatanga.
The prosecution told the court that accused laid ambush and attacked the victims when one of them (victims) got down from the car to open the gate.
Chief Insp Tamanja said that the accused ordered the victims to lay down and they hit the victims with a metal bar.
He said the accused jumped into their car and sped off.
Chief Insp Tamanja told the court that one of the victims was receiving treatment at the hospital.
The court heard that the police arrested the accused, who attempted to escape, took their statements and put them before court.
