Tepa NMTC inaugurates modern 350-bed hostel facility

A modern 350-bed capacity students’ hostel facility for Tepa Nursing and Midwifery Train­ing College (NMTC), has been inaugurated here in the Ahafo Ano North Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

The facility, first of its kind on the campus, will drastically reduce the perennial residential accommodation challenge which has bedeviled the school, since its establishment in 2009.

Inaugurating it, the principal of the college, Albert Opoku, said effective infrastructural planning for educational institutions created positive and conducive atmosphere for teaching and learning.

He indicated that the importance of physical infrastructure includ­ing accommodation facilities as a major determinant of students and teachers welfare, life sustenance and academic excellence, cannot be over emphasised.

Mr Opoku noted that students of the college were moved from one campus to another on daily ba­sis to engage in academic activities, with its associated risks coupled with high cost of fuel and bus maintenance.

The Principal said “upon as­sumption of duty, I consulted Te­pamanhene, Nana Adusei Atwe­newaa Ampem II, individuals and organisations to support the proj­ect. This is what we have together put up”.

Mr Opoku assured that work was far advanced to complete another modern 200 – seat capacity classroom block for the college saying that individ­uals and institutions should come to our aid.

He disclosed that the college’s management had developed a five-year Infrastructural Develop­ment Plan (IDP) spanning from 2023 to 2027, which would initiate projects including 500-bed capacity students hostel.

Others are the construction of a three-storey classroom block, 1000-seat capacity assembly hall, 15 flats staff accommodation, sports and recreational, and entertainment facilities among others.

The principal expressed ap­preciation to the contribution of Tepa Traditional Council (TTC), the Advisory Board, management and staff of the college, individuals, institutions and other stakeholders, towards the building of the edifice.

Nana (Dr) Adusei Atwenewaa Ampem II, Tepamanhene and the Advisory Board Chairman of the college, commended the vision of the principal and the contribution of donors towards the realisation of the facility.

The paramount chief lauded the patriotic and voluntary spirit of residents of the area to give back to society, stressing that “we must not always wait for government to develop our communities”.
