The burial of Edward Borketey, O’Reilly Senior High School student allegedly stabbed and killed by his classmate is scheduled for October 18, 2024.
The grieving father, Enock Borketey Sackey, announced that the burial date was influenced by the progress of the case at the District Court at La, a suburb of Accra.
The latest development from the alleged murder case, the Republic vs. 19 year old Godwin Mawuli, the alleged killer, Prosecutor Chief Inspector Paul Osei Adjei informed the court that a duplicate case docket has been sent to the Attorney-General’s office for advice on the committal proceeding.
Adwoa Benaso Asumadu-Sakyi, Presiding Magistrate, was informed about the importance of expediting the process, noting that the docket must pass through the Accra Regional Office before reaching the A-G’s department.
“I have instructed the investigator to personally follow up to ensure the process is expedited, given the public interest in the case,” Prosecutor Chief Inspector Paul Osei Adjei remarked.
During the hearing, the Magistrate assured the deceased family that the docket had been properly prepared and sent.
