The Minister for Education, Yaw Osei Adutwum has underscored that professional marketing education serves as a cornerstone for economic growth, innovation and sustainability in any society.
The Minister made this known during the maiden graduation ceremony for Professional Marketing Qualifications of the Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG) over the weekend, in Accra.
The ceremony recognised persons who successfully completed their programmes on the CIMG Professional Marketing Qualifications at Pathways 3, 4, 5 and 6.
In a speech read on his behalf, Minister Adutwum emphasised on the significance of professional marketing, saying “it equips individuals with the skills and knowledge necessary to identify market opportunities, understand consumer behaviour and develop strategies to meet consumer needs”.
He explained that by nurturing a pool of competent professional marketers, Ghana can stimulate domestic consumption and attract foreign.
Also, it can promote investment, stir up economic recovery and foster entrepreneurship, all of which are essential for economic expansion and job creation.
Additionally, the Minister said Professional marketing education empowers skilled marketers to lead businesses to compete effectively in global markets.
“Through understanding global market trends, consumer preferences and effective branding, Ghanaian firms can expand their reach beyond national borders, boosting exports and contributing to the country’s balance of trade”, he noted.
Dr. Adutwum, who congratulated the graduands and advised that professional marketing education should not just be about selling products; it should be about shaping the future of our nation.
He was optimistic that by investing in this, Ghana can unlock new opportunities, drive sustainable development, and position itself as a competitive player on the global stage.
National President, Dr. Kasser Tee congratulated the 119 graduates for their dedication and time in Professional Marketing Qualification urging them to change the narrative in the industry by helping their organisations to build everything around the interest of the customer.
Dr Kasser Tee announced it recent achievements in acquiring the CIMG Regulations 2023, (L.I. 2479), which was passed by the Parliament of Ghana and has, therefore, come into force.
This feat, he said, would boost the marketing profession and the execution of the Institute’s functions as stipulated in the CIMG ACT 2020 (Act 1021).
“By the passage of the L.I., we call upon business leaders to champion the continuous professional development of their professional marketing personnel to enable them remain relevant and play the effective role of promoting and protecting the interest of customers in their organisations,” he added.
He concluded by urging the graduands “to let your good works manifest in how you go about providing marketing support to the various corporate and product brands you manage in your practice. The success you chalk will also bring glory and pride to the CIMG”.
