The Ghana Police Service has received 200 out of 1000 motorbikes donation from the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to enhance visibility.
The motorbikes were handed over yesterday, in a grand ceremony attended by the management and a board member of ECG, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. Akuffo-Dampare, together with the Police Management Board (POMAB) members.
Keli Gadzekpo, Board Chair of ECG, said the donation is an evidence of the symbiotic relationship existing between the two institutions.
He added that the support also goes to show how much the police are required to be mobile in their operations, especially when ECG workers get attacked while discharging their duties.
Mr. Gadzekpo made the promise to support the police administration with 1000 motorbikes, upon a request by the IGP.
IGP Akuffo Dampare was happy with the collaboration and the union between the two state institutions, to make the public space safer.
He called for more of such support from the power distribution company, while urging others to emulate ECG’s shining example
