The Kwabre East Municipal Health Directorate has targeted to immunize about 30,000 children of one to seven years against polio to ensure that children in the municipality are free from Polio.
Dr. Samuel Osei Somuah, the Municipal Health Director at the launching of this year’s exercise at Adumanafo advised parents to take advantage of the exercise and ensure that their kids are immunized or vaccinated to make it successful.
According to him, scientists are still investigating the outbreak of the disease and urged parents to eliminate the oral type 2 polio two drops for each child.
He added that they are still searching for children with one to fifteen years who are paralyzed or cannot walk to ascertain whether it is caused by Polio or any other ailments to be addressed.
The Municipal Health Director entreated parents to protect their children against polio and keep children under five at home from September 10-13, 2020 for vaccination, for polio vaccine is effective and safe.
Nana Osei Assibey Bonsu, the Municipal Chief Executive also made a passionate appeal to parents to come out with their children to be vaccinated.
He disclosed that the government always prioritizes issues concerning children welfare, hence the need for parents to complement the government efforts to ensure the success of the exercise to make the country Polio free.
Nana Oppong Agyemang, Krontihene of Adumanafo who represented Nana Owusu Kwarteng II, Chief of the community, commended the Municipal Directorate for the launch of the exercise at their doorstep.
He entreated the fathers to encourage nursing mothers to ensure that their children are not left out of the nationwide exercise rolled out by the government through the Ghana Health Services to rid the country of polio.
