Huge interest continues to follow the naming of the 23 men who will be tasked to win the title to end a sprawling 37-year title drought for the West African nation.
With a provisional squad expected to be unveiled in May with the final team to be named in June, the confident-looking Yaya Mohammed maintains that he can help Kwesi Appiah’s men to clinch the trophy if given the chance to represent the nation in Egypt.
“I deserve a place in coach Kwesi Appiah squad if there are no injuries. I will be a better player to help Ghana at the AFCON”, he told Nimde3 FM.
Apart from featuring for the silver medal-winning Local Black Stars team at the CHAN 2014 in South Africa, the former Asante Kotoko man has never played for the mainstream Black Stars team.
For the June 21-July 19 AFCON, Appiah’s outfit have been drawn in Group F which also contains five-time champions and cup holders Cameroon, Benin and Guinea-Bissau.
