Former Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim has been included in the Porcupine Warriors' squad for their pre-season tour of Accra and is set to sign a contract with the club, marking his official return to his former team.
The 23-year-old shot-stopper, who became a free agent following the expiration of his contract with Ethiopian Premier League side Ethiopia Coffee, has been training with Kotoko since the club resumed pre-season activities.
He was initially granted permission to train with the squad as both parties explored the possibility of a reunion.
His inclusion in the travelling squad for the Accra pre-season tour confirms that negotiations have progressed positively.
According to reports, Kotoko have opened negotiations with the former captain over a proposed two-year contract as the club pushes to secure his return ahead of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.
Danlad is no stranger to the Porcupine Warriors. He rose through the ranks at Asante Kotoko, where he established himself as one of the country's promising goalkeepers before moving abroad. He made his senior Black Stars debut while still at Kotoko and became a symbol of the club's ability to groom top talent.
His impressive displays during the pre-season period have reportedly convinced the club's management to explore the possibility of signing him on a permanent deal.
The former Ghana international, who was part of the Black Stars' 2022 World Cup squad in Qatar, is expected to provide competition and experience to Kotoko's goalkeeping department.
