The Black Princesses have refused to leave camp despite securing qualification for the 2026 U20 Women's World Cup due to unpaid per diems owed to them from their last two qualifying campaigns.
The Ghana U20 women's national team qualified for the global tournament in Poland after overcoming Uganda in the final qualifying round.
However, the players remain in camp, reluctant to disperse for fear that conversations about their owed allowances will be closed once they return to their respective homes.
According to sources, the team is owed per diems from the qualifying games against South Africa in the penultimate round, which took place in February, as well as from the two-legged final round against Uganda this month.
The Princesses faced South Africa in Accra before travelling for the return fixture. That was followed by the encounter against Uganda under the same sequence. The team sealed qualification last Saturday after playing out a 1-1 draw in Kampala, having won 2-1 in Accra the week before.
While awaiting their outstanding per diems, the players have reportedly received a stipend from the Ghana Football Association following their arrival in Accra.
The standoff highlights ongoing challenges with player welfare and timely remuneration in Ghanaian women's football.
The Black Princesses have now qualified for eight consecutive U20 Women's World Cups, having participated in every edition of the tournament since its inception. Despite their historic consistency on the pitch, off-field issues continue to threaten team morale.
