English-Ghanaian midfielder Malachi Boateng delivered a commanding performance and a crucial assist as Plymouth Argyle eased to a 3â1 win away at AFC Wimbledon in League One.
Plymouth struck early when Boateng slipped a precise pass into the box for Alexander Mitchell, who fired home in the 6th minute to give the visitors the perfect start at the Cherry Red Records Stadium.
Plymouth controlled the first half and went into the break ahead, but Wimbledon hit back shortly after the restart through Alistair Smith’s tidy finish. Tom Cleverley’s side responded superbly, regaining control when Lorent Tolaj restored the lead with a smart finish on 68 minutes, before substitute Aribim Pepple killed the game with a composed third, finishing off Owen Dale’s low cross on 76 minutes.
Boateng’s assist underlined another influential display in a standout 2025/26 League One season, where he has now made 43 appearances, scoring 4 goals and providing 8 assists from midfield. The victory keeps Plymouth’s promotion push on track as they now prepare for a tricky trip to Bradford City at Valley Parade.
