Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko has declared his team’s intention to clinch a historic domestic double after securing a spot in the MTN FA Cup semi-finals.
Speaking shortly after his side’s hard-fought 3-0 victory over Attram De Visser at the Cape Coast Stadium on Sunday, Tanko confirmed that the "Mauve and Yellow" are fully committed to winning both the Premier League and the FA Cup.
Despite being held to a goalless draw in regulation time, Medeama’s superior fitness told in extra time as Kelvin Nkrumah struck a sensational hat-trick to dismantle the Division One side.
Reflecting on the result, Tanko noted that the scoreline reflected the team's relentless ambition.
"This is what I said before the game. We want to go to the next round. And after extra time, I think 3-0 is very good for us," he said.
With Medeama currently sitting at the summit of the Ghana Premier League table, the victory keeps their dream of a clean sweep alive.
Tanko dismissed suggestions of prioritizing one trophy over the other, insisting the squad is deep enough to handle the pressure.
"I always said we are competing with every cup that we have. So, definitely, we are going for both, and then we'll see what will happen," he added.
Medeama are top of the Ghana Premier League with 46 points after 25 games.
