Medeama head coach Ibrahim Tanko has paid a glowing tribute to departing defender Kamaradini Mamudu, describing him as a "very disciplined" player who will be sorely missed as he embarks on a new chapter in the Sudanese league.
The 23-year-old Ghana international recently completed a permanent transfer to Sudanese giants Al Hilal, leaving Medeama while they sit eight points clear at the top of the Ghana Premier League in pursuit of a second title.
Tanko expressed both pride and sadness at the defender's exit, highlighting his all-round qualities. "Kamaradini is a really fantastic guy; not only on the pitch and outside the pitch, he's also very disciplined," the coach said. "It's very painful that we are going to miss him, but I think life must go on."
Mamudu's departure follows a standout 2024/25 season where he scored eight league goals, the highest tally by any defender, including five goals in the first 20 matchdays of the current campaign. His performances earned him two caps for the Black Stars.
Tanko wished the player well for his future, expressing confidence in his ability to replicate his success.
"I wish him very well. I hope that he will go there and then like he did here," he said. The coach also signalled confidence in his squad's depth, noting, "Definitely, we are going to miss him, but I think we still have three right backs and that can also step on his feet."
Mamudu joins Al Hilal, who are currently leading the Rwandan Premier League after relocating due to the ongoing conflict in Sudan. His move marks a significant step in his career and a substantial loss for the Ghanaian champions-elect.
