Women’s football development in Ghana is about to take a major step forward, with the Greater Accra Region getting ready to kick off the U15 Girls Regional Colts League on Saturday, January 24, 2026.
The initiative, introduced under the FIFA League Development framework, is aimed at identifying, nurturing and developing young female talent at the grassroots level. It underscores a growing commitment to building sustainable development pathways for girls in football through structured competition and regular match exposure.
The launch of the league reflects a deliberate effort to strengthen the foundation of women’s football by providing young players with the opportunity to learn, compete and grow in an organised environment. Beyond competition, the programme celebrates the joy of the game while encouraging discipline, teamwork and excellence among participants.
The Greater Accra Region is taking an important step towards inspiring the next generation of female footballers, reinforcing Ghana’s long-term vision for the growth and success of women’s football.
