Bechem United have strengthened their attacking options with the acquisition of teenage forward Godfred Yawson.
He has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal from Division Two side Cheetah FC as part of a longer-term squad plan.
The 19-year-old’s move was finalised after he came through medical assessments last week, sealing a transfer that follows a strong finish to his spell in the lower divisions.
Yawson caught the eye during his final campaign with Cheetah FC, scoring three goals in five appearances and underlining his potential before earning a step up to the Ghana Premier League.
The signing reflects Bechem United’s growing emphasis on recruiting youthful players who can be developed within the club’s structure rather than short-term fixes.
Bechem’s campaign has produced uneven results, leaving the Hunters in the lower half of the table as they seek greater stability.
With 16 points from 15 matches, they sit 15th, narrowly clear of the relegation places, increasing the urgency for improvement as the league gathers momentum.
Adding depth up front has been identified as a priority, and Yawson’s arrival provides fresh competition for places while easing the workload on established forwards.
Bechem United face a stern test next when they host Asante Kotoko on Sunday, December 28, in a fixture that could shape their immediate fortunes in the league.
