Benjamin Henrichs is moving closer to the moment he has worked toward for nearly a year.
The German-Ghanaian defender will finally join full team sessions next week, a development that signals a meaningful shift in his long recovery journey. Coach Ole Werner shared the update ahead of the trip to FC Union Berlin, confirming that the club is encouraged by Henrichs’ progress.
The 28-year-old has stayed focused on his rehabilitation since suffering an Achilles tendon tear almost twelve months ago. Recent weeks have seen him push harder during recovery, spending more time on the pitch and building strength during individual sessions. He has also resumed ball work, a sign that his confidence and rhythm are returning.
Werner sounded hopeful about the next stage of the process. “He can take a good burden. We will integrate him into team training piecemeal from next week. It will certainly take a good build-up process with the squad after the time he has lacked. But this is all very positive and is going in the right direction.”
The club wants to avoid setbacks and make sure Henrichs can stay fully fit once he rejoins the squad. Werner did not clarify when he might return to matchday involvement, but the step into team training represents a major milestone.
