Central Region defeated Upper East 3-2 on penalties after an entertaining 2-2 draw in their final Group B match of the MTN Elite U19 Championship at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram on Wednesday.
Despite the victory, both teams bowed out of the competition, with Central Region finishing fourth on five points from four matches, while Upper East ended bottom with just one point.
Upper East took the lead in the 13th minute through Webonga Eric, but Kenneth Boateng equalised a minute later. Mundasidu Seidu restored Upper East’s advantage before Yaw Yeboah Dasman struck again for Central to send the match to penalties.
