Ghanaian teenager Hafiz Gariba says his ultimate dream is to line up alongside Spanish star Pau Cubarsà in the Barcelona senior team after signing a three-year deal with the club’s Juvenil B side.
The promising defender joined the Catalan giants following an impressive development stint at the Marcet Soccer Academy in Spain, where his performances caught the attention of Barcelona scouts.
Gariba’s journey began at Zinaps FC in Ghana, where his early displays earned him a spot at Villarreal CF Africa.
From there, he developed further and gained valuable exposure to top-level training structures that eventually paved his path to Europe.
His technical ability and composure in defence made him a standout during his time in Spain, leading to a move to La Masia â Barcelona’s world-renowned youth academy.
“It’s Pau Cubarsi. I see him as my senior and I always learn from him because he is very intelligent. I’ve met him and he is such a humble guy," Gariba told Flashscore.
"Lamine Yamal is also a really good player. They’re young players who are playing at the highest level and I am looking forward to following their footsteps.
“I look forward to one day playing with the Barcelona senior team. My dream is to play alongside Pau Cubarsi. I think he is one of the best defenders in the world,” he added.
