Tafo (Ash), Jan. 01, GNA - The Very Reverend Solomon Bruce, Superintendent Minister in-charge of the Old Tafo Wesley Methodist Church, has called on politicians to be selfless and take keen interest in the people’s welfare.
“They should think outside the ‘ballot box’ - working assiduously all the time to pursue pro-poor sustainable development policies and programmes in order to bring about positive transformation in the lives of the people,” he noted.
“Politicians must think about the next generation, not elections,” he said, and advocated a non-partisan approach to issues bothering on the nation’s development and growth.
Very Rev. Bruce, who was delivering the sermon at a watch-night service at the Church in the Old Tafo Municipality, reminded Ghanaians of the critical role each and every one had to play to ensuring peace as the nation goes to the polls in December, this year.
He said the significance of a new year could not have been felt if the people continued to “do the same thing without seeing any changes.”
Therefore, it is imperative that all and sundry put up positive attitudes in their respective fields of endeavour for increased economic productivity.
In a related development, the Prophet Alex Adjei, of the New Redemption International Ministry, has appealed for unity and peace to prevail as the nation was ushered into a new year.
Delivering the sermon at a watch-night service at Sawaba in the Asokore-Mampong Municipality, he stressed that peaceful co-existence was key to the advancement of any society.
Additionally, the people must avoid unnecessary tension borne out of religious, tribal and political differences to enhance Ghana’s stability.
