Effiduase (Ash), July 29, GNA – The Ghanaian working class, especially those in their youthful years, have been counseled to make prudent plans towards their retirement through savings and other viable investments in order to escape the inevitable vulnerabilities during their retirement.
Reverend Moses Sumaila, Former Assistant Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Church–Ghana, who gave the advice underscored the need for churches and financial institutions to collaborate to engage the youth and empower them on sustainable ways to manage their lives for a secured and meaningful post retirement life.
“It is essential for everyone in employment, to be mindful of retirement which is a must and manage individual resources as well as the health to live to enjoy the full benefits of retirement,” he stated.
The Reverend Minister was speaking at a farewell and retirement service held at Effiduase for Rev. and Mrs. Stephen Anoquah, the District Superintendent Minister of the Assemblies of God Church in the Sekyere East District of Ashanti.
He said retirement should be seen as a golden opportunity for an individual to analyze past life which would guide the restructuring of current life for the benefit of the younger and unborn generations.
“Those who go on compulsory retirement are by reason of their age and the experience gained in their entire working life, very important repositories of wisdom and knowledge to offer invaluable advice not only to their family members, but other people including those in leadership,” he added.
The Rev Dr Kwadwo Justice Boadi, the Ashanti-East Regional Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Church-Ghana, said retirement was a reminder to mankind on the certainty of death and the need for every individual to seek God in his or her life in order to enjoy eternal life after death.
Rev. Anoquah, on his part, thanked the church, family and all who supported him to successfully complete his mission service as the Effiduase District Pastor since 1999.
He urged members of the Church and all Christians to always endeavor to offer constructive criticism and correction to the Church and not to engage in roles that often soiled the good image of the church and Christianity
