Sekondi, July 29, GNA - The Most Reverend Dr Paul Kwabena Boafo, Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church has called on the Christians to let their lifestyles affect society.
He also asked them not to restrict their holy living within the confines of the church but demonstrate it wherever they found themselves.
"Your Holiness as a believer of Christ must not be exhibited to the four walls of this church or any other Bible Living Church but our lifestyle must affect society", he added.
The Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church said this at the Connexional Climax of the Lay Movement sixth Biennial Conference held at the Wesley Methodist Cathedral at Sekondi in the Western Region.
The theme for the conference was: “Methodist Lay Movement-70 years of Service to demonstrate the dedication and service of the men and women in the Lay Movement towards the growth, development and expansion of the Methodist Church nationwide”.
The Presiding Bishop said the Church was a brand established through purity of heart and service, righteous living and ultimately hope to the lost and weary in society and that nothing must be done in the negative to soil the brand image of the Methodist Church Ghana.
"The Methodist Church, Ghana is a brand and in a jurisdiction of its own, our culture, thinking and general attitude is different...we thank the sacrifices of our forbearers and we cannot lose sight of this vision of Holiness and Righteous Living", he explained.
Brother Bernard C.K. Botwe, the President of the Lay Movement of the Methodist Church paid a tribute to the Lay stalwarts for keeping up the flames of the church and institutionalizing the Lay Movement.
He said the Movement was committed to service to the church as their name connoted, 'appiafoo' literally anchors of the Church, adding that we would continue to work in implementing the decisions of the Church.
Brother Botwe also commented on holy and blameless lives as Christians.
Over the last 70 years, the lay movement had established a cordial relationship with the executives of the Church, renovated some church and hostel projects, construction of pavilions, land acquisition and the construction of new church at Dambai in the Oti Region to crown the Lay Movement at 70 years.
