Accra, July 29, GNA - Mr Moses Temanu, the Director of Human Capital Management, Bollore Transport and Logistics Ghana has advised university graduates to positively make use of social media as a means to increase their knowledge.
He further urged them to continue to develop themselves by reading extensively and updating themselves in the area of their profession.
“I know that most of you spend a lot of time on social media sites such as whatsapp, use these tools, not only for leisure, but to increase your knowledge to be on the top of your profession,” Mr Temanu stated over the weekend in his address at the third session of the 11th Congregation of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA).
This session, conferred appropriate degrees and diplomas on students who have fulfilled requirements for graduation from the faculty of Management Studies.
The graduating students of the Faculty of Management Studies were made of 1,435 undergraduates and 316 diplomas.
Of the total number of undergraduates, 27 had first class; 317 second class upper; 379 second class lower; 285 third class and 111 pass.
For the diploma category, eight obtained distinctions, 179 credit and 129 passes.
Mr Temanu also advised students to exhibit the right professional attitude in every task they undertake; adding that “during the period of your national service you will have endless opportunities to perform different tasks. Give off your best”.
“Find out about the digitisation agenda, the extent to which technology is disrupting traditional work methods in almost every functional world environment. It is common these days to hear of artificial intelligence, robotics process automation, block chain and data analytics.”
He said: “Learn about ethical and professional conduct. Simply be honest and contribute to the anti-corruption campaign. In most organisations, almost every key employee is made to sign to a legal commitment not to get involved in bribery and corruption. Don’t undo yourself by ignoring our commitment.”
He urged the graduands to go confidently into the business world, keep focus, and be ready to explore the numerous opportunities that come their way.
Professor Abednego Feehi Okoe Amartey, the Vice-Chancellor, UPSA advised the graduands to uphold high values of integrity and professionalism.
“We have prepared you adequately and now release you into an uncertain world to get out there and search for opportunity. There are numerous opportunities out there and there are infinite possibilities of what you could do with your kind of training talent, scholarship, diligence, passion and character,” he said.
“Wherever you will be in this world, I beseech you to uphold the high values of integrity and professionalism. Be above reproach. In a world teeming with opportunities for corruption and easy gain, take the high moral ground. You may meet setbacks along the way. Note thankfully, that overcoming obstacles in life is possible.”
“I call each of you to action, to go out from here with confidence, with our blessings and best wishes, and work actively towards living a good and fulfilling life,” he added.
